So you know I went to IKEA last week and picked up some stuff. I set it to the side because after all it’s JUST another piece of MDF furniture, right? It can wait until I assemble it, decide it sucks and haul it nearly 2 hours BACK to Charlotte to get my refund, right?
WRONG.
Oh so very very wrong.
Billy is the bookcase of Doom, y’all.

This is 98%* of the childrens’ library**. It had the previous bookcase groaning under the weight.
I will admit: this is not the Billy I chose online. I thought the six-shelf was entirely too tall for the room and would mess with the overall mood of the room (making it darker).
Wrong again.
After I assembled it and slid it into place, I started planning. Plotting. Obsessing. The shelves are rated to hold 66 lbs per shelf – should I actually weigh the books to be sure I’m not overloading it?
Obviously, that’s not an issue.
Now I’m plotting a return trip to IKEA for the more narrow Billy to wedge in the middle to house the Wiiquipment and wondering what I should do for a different entertainment center.
Go ahead, laugh at me. And then come help me assemble the desk
*This number does NOT include the Homeschooling Library. It will go on the other Bookcase O Doom. This number also does not include the books I culled from the collection for being too damaged to continue as anything other than mulch.
**The rest of the books are strewn throughout the house.
