Another “World’s Worst” Mama Moment

Mama? My shoes are wet!

What? They *can’t* be wet, put them on and let’s go let’s go let’s GO! Get in the truck!

I went puddle dancing the other day!

Puddle dancing??!!?? What do you mean puddle dancing??!?? Your shoes CANNOT be wet, we’re going to be late for school!

I grabbed his shoes. They’re wet. Not dripping, but not just a little damp either.

Baby, we don’t have TIME to put them in the dryer and you don’t have any other shoes that fit, remember?

Mama, I can wear my SANDALS!

No baby, no you can’t. I threw the sandals away – they were too small.

I can go to school with NO SHOES!

No son, no you can’t. You /have/ to wear shoes. Put them on, you’ll just have to wear them wet.

Awwww maaaaan!

I know it’s not going to kill him. The consequence of puddle dancing is wet shoes, and the consequence of NOT putting the shoes where they could dry out is wet wet uncomfy shoes.

I also know that I really should’ve bought two pairs of shoes for the child. He’s a puddle dancer, puddle stomper, splash-lover. It doesn’t matter how cold it is; if there is a puddle, he WILL hit the center of it. Repeatedly.
