Apparently it's got a lot to do with timing. Her phone fell out of her pocket as she was flushing, and the jet action took care of the rest.

Long live high water pressure!

Wow... that is the second time I have heard of someone flushing their phone in a week's time. I can honestly say I never really even considered the fact that it was possible. I'm glad I don't usually take my phone to the bathroom with me!

No, because I caved like a house of cards. Her phone WAS insured, but our carrier did not have the phone she wanted, and I'm not quite gutsy enough (yet) to jailbreak one. I put her in charge of finding the absolute best deal on the phone she wanted - which was a BOGO (which means Mommy gets a new phone free. SUHWEET!) so we switched carriers and I sent her to the beach knowing that we can stay in contact.

I'd be laughing my ass off at her for you if I didn't know you're in for at least a month of begging, pleading, cajoling, and the never-original-but-favorite "you're-SO-mean-I-hate-you-you're-the-worst-mom-ever".

We (thank GOD my husband is on my side on this one) told my 13 yr old son he can have a phone when he earns the $200 to buy the one he wants, pay us $40 a month (a year's worth up front) for the monthly charges, and the insurance in case he does what your daughter did. So far, that seems to have stopped him. :)

Good luck!
