Bob asked Why.

Why do I blog? Yes, it’s a meme, but I’m going to run my mouth a bit more than the others did.

At no point did I ever think this little exercise in writing would turn out to be my Magnum Opus, my life’s great whine record. This is the first (and only) journal I’ve ever written regularly in. Really. Truly. In my entire life. Neither did I expect anyone to read me and my whining writing, much less leave commentary.

This blog was born out of my need to get it all out. I was reeling from the breakup, the move back in with my folks, PPD, and I sat in front of the computer for hours. Writing, gaming, reading, chatting, ANYTHING to keep my (fat) ass in that chair and away from any interaction with another human being face to face. I planned my grocery trips for the times when the only people in the store were me and the employees.

As you can see, the “TIME CAVE” acronym applies as a phrase for me, not necessarily as the separately defined letters.

With the passing of time, a lot of these things have faded from screaming issues to a gentle throbbing ache every now and then. I found other bloggers who felt the way I did at the time, as well as message boards.

Part of the meme is to pick a post that is representative of you. The downside of being such a changeling throughout the years is that there really ISN’T one single post that I can say hit *all* of me. Mea culpa, but I just can’t do it.

I’m tucking the rest of the meme (the massive link-love directory) behind the “more” tag. My sincere apologies to those who would prefer to not read and/or click through. Also? Please tag yourselves because I’d rather pick your nose than pick you to make an obligatory post.

Week 247

Can someone talk to me about Flickr?

Is the pro account really worth it?

I’m very well aware of the social networking aspect of it, and my photography is vastly improved (mostly due to a better camera).

But.

I have a gracious plenty of space and bandwidth to host my own photos here, and not have to worry about [...]

Blogging on Water (instead of walking on it)

This is my first entry into the Tar Heel Tavern Blog Carnival, where the topic is “the drought in NC”.

With most of North Carolina under some type of drought watch, the only thing I could think of was to catch as many images of the rain that fell today.

[...]

This just in: Kernersville gets featured in Southern Living Magazine

in the November 2007 Carolina Living section. Is there any local coverage of this occasion?

Not on the Kernersville News website

Not on Kblog (Kernersville’s “city” blog through the Winston-Salem Journal)

You would think that the Chamber of Commerce or the Town of Kernersville might bring it up. Being featured in a magazine of [...]

Let the Post-Convention Crash begin!

The laundry is caught up, thanks in a very incredibly large part to Holly. I went to work and came home to piles and piles of beautifully folded laundry. Is she not the absolute best??!!??

Joe has been sick off and on since last Thursday. It’s driving me slightly insane – Thursday he was [...]

After this weekend, I’m not surprised by this score…

My brain is bubbling burbling bursting with ideas

not just for blog posts, but about my “life” on the internet as well.

I just spent two days with people who not only “get” this whole blogging thing, but are interested in making it (harder better faster stronger) work. “On Fire” is not quite the correct phrase – I’m not being consumed by [...]
