I’m going for the Coolest. Mom. Ever. award.
I’m adapting the Zombie Cake for Alannah’s Halloween party. Right now I’m rolling ideas for modifications around in my brain for it. We usually have a VERY small party (less than 10 kids) , and a 7-layer cake is just a teeny bit too much. I’ve also got to plan for working around small children - most of the hard candy stuff is OUT.
So far, they are:
Brains inside the cake.
Gummy worms and bugs crawling around in the dirt (crushed oreos and chocolate grahams) and in the head.
The hand - I think I’m going to use cake scraps for it. Or maybe I’ll make a mold from my hand and do a dark/white chocolate combo.
Cotton candy for the hair. I think we’ve got a cotton candy maker around here somewhere - I’ll just use raw sugar so it’ll have a brownish color to it.
Molding the face - I do believe I’m going to use a real halloween mask for a mold and do it in chocolate as well.
Off to do more brainstorming…..
